My sculpture assignment this week was to create a shelter. This installation is the result. I decided to make a tee pee-like structure to try and protect a lit candle. My project deals with fragility and instability. To portray this, I chose not to use any nails, strings, or ropes to hold the structure together. The only thing holding the structure  is a balance that took a tedious amount of time to find and perfect. The shelter, then, becomes an oxymoron since it is just as vulnerable as the candle it aims to protect (without success). In just an hour, the candle burned out. By nighttime, the whole structure had fallen.
